History
The Bristol Apache was formed from within the Bristol Aztecs American Football Club as a development team to solve two problems they were finding within their club. With the Adult Team being so successful the jump from youth to Adult with no development between was proving to much for most youth graduates and so the club was loosing on average 20 talented (if undersized) players every year. The second problem was that with the introduction of an American Football Academy in Bristol (the PRIDE) many of the players at the Academy wanted to protect their NCAA eligibility in case the dream of playing in the USA became a reality. They couldn't do this with the Aztecs Adult Team as many of their players are of the standard that they have been paid to play in the past.
So the Bristol Apache was formed to bridge the gap between the Youth and Adult Team and to offer a DEVELOPMENT ground for players coming into the sport before being put up against the Nations best with the Aztecs Adult Team. The Team is looking to enter the league in 2011 after playing a schedule of friendly games in 2010. Their one joint practice / scrimmage so far against the UWE Bullets was a great success.
